Romanian Judges Unimpressed by the Tate Brothers’ Soap Opera; Reject Their Request to Leave Romania

The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected the Tate brothers’ request on Friday to leave Romania. They had cited their mother’s alleged heart attack as the reason for their plea.

The brief decision: Ruling No. 700/CP – Based on art.425 ind. 1, paragraph 7, point 1 lit.b in relation to art.205 of the Criminal Procedure Code, dismisses as unfounded the appeals made by the defendants TATE III EMORY ANDREW and TATE TRISTAN against the ruling issued on December 15, 2023, by the judge of the preliminary chamber of the Bucharest Tribunal – Criminal Section, in Case No.18906/3/2023/a1.7. Under art.275, paragraphs 2 and 4 of the Criminal Procedure Code, obliges the contesting defendants to pay to the state the sum of 300 lei each, as judicial expenses. Final. Pronounced in the council chamber, today, December 22, 2023. The Tate brothers, Andrew and Tristan, had invoked their mother’s health condition to leave Romania. They are currently under judicial control.

“With heavy hearts, we urgently announce the news that Andrew and Tristan’s mother suffered a sudden heart attack this afternoon and was immediately rushed to the hospital. The situation is unfolding, and at this stage, we understand she will undergo emergency surgery. Her discharge from the hospital is contingent upon the success of this procedure.

The brothers kindly request privacy and consideration from the public and media as they navigate through these uncertain moments. They are deeply grateful for the support and understanding of friends, colleagues, and well-wishers.

Given this critical and devastating situation, Andrew and Tristan hope that the court will expedite their request to temporarily leave the country to be by their mother’s side and support her during this difficult time,” stated the Tate brothers’ PR.

The hearing regarding the departure of the Tate spouses from the country is scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Bucharest Court of Appeal.

Recently, the Tate brothers’ request to temporarily leave Romania during the Christmas period was rejected by the Bucharest Tribunal. The decision was not final and was contested.

Andrew and Tristan Tate are facing trial for organized crime offenses.
